Educational Tasting: Understanding Italian Wine Series: Friuli-Venezia Giulia: 10+ wines (7pm, Wednesday October 28th, 2026)

This may be the most underappreciated region in Italy, and this is without a doubt the Italian region I have been most excited to showcase since we did our Sicily class over a year ago!

So, continuing our Understanding Italian Wine Series, we move on to Friuli-Venezia Giulia (FVG for short). 

FVG is filled with a long lost of autochthonous grapes, many of which you may not have ever heard of. Both the whites (Ribolla Gialla, Friulano, Verduzzo, and Picolit) and the reds (Schioppettino, Pignolo, and Refosco dal Peduncolo) make remarkably high quality and age-worthy wines. To showcase how age-worthy, we'll be tasting a 22-year-old red wine, and a couple of other (young) 10 year old wines! 

On top of that, we'll be tasting a wine from one of the most important white wine producers in all of Italy called Vie di Romans, along with several wines from a winery that is among my greatest inspirations; Ronchi di Cialla.

Very few regions in the world can come close to both the diversity and quality of wines made in FVG. This is a class you definitely want to experience!
