Educational Tasting: The Wines of Greece: 8+ Wines (Wednesday, July 15th, 7PM, 2026)
Greece is home to one of the world's oldest wine cultures and one of its richest collections of indigenous grape varieties. We won't get to taste them all (though I wish we could!) but we will taste quite a range, with some remarkable age worthy wines made from Assyrtiko and Xinomavro, and also some fresh and easy going wines made from Agiorgitiko, Moschofilero and more.
The diversity is remarkable despite the fact that Greek wine production accounts for a measly .6% of global wine production. And the quality is remarkably high if you know where to look!
On top of that, we'll be tasting the incredibly special 2002 Estate Argyros Santorini Vinsanto Late Release. This wine is made from vines averaging over 70 years of age, while some of the vines are over 200 years old! The grapes are left on the vines for a late harvest about 1 month after the main harvest, and then left to sun-dry for another 14 days before sponteanous fermentation. This is then aged for 3 years in cement, and 16 years in various oak.
This is a class you do not want to miss!
The class includes light appetizers.
