Educational Tasting: Grape Variety Series: Sauvignon Blanc: 9+ Wines (7PM, Wednesday August 12th, 2026)

This is the 3rd iteration of our new Grape Variety Series, and the first white grape! On August 12th, we move on to another one of the most planted grapes in the world: Sauvignon Blanc! 

So what does it mean to be one of the most planted grapes? Does it mean it is one of the best grapes? Absolute not! But it does mean that it is likely planted in a wide range of varrying terroirs that can highlight quite a range of wines! And there are certainly quite a range of wines made from Sauvignon Blanc. Like Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc is planted nearly everywhere! We'll be tasting 9+ wines, from different growing regions scattered around the world, in multiple different continents! Join us in our exploration of Sauvignon Blanc on Wednesday August 12th.

The class includes light appetizers.

Grape Variety Series:

At the Village Wine Merchant, we have variety first approach, with the feeling that the grape variety is the most important aspect of a wine. Nature's first gift. Without the grape, there is no wine! Second, is terroir; the soil, the exposure, the unique climate that enhances the particularity of that given grape, making it something you couldn't find anywhere else in the world. Next, is human intervention; first in viticulture, and then in winemaking. Both require artistic creativity, science, and more importantly a diligent and unrelenting willingness to be present in observation, letting the grapes, and the must guide our decisions.
