Educational Tasting: Grape Variety Series: Nebbiolo: 9+ Wines (730pm, Friday March 27th, 2026

This is the first run of our new Grape Variety Series, and what better grape to start with than Nebbiolo!

Nebbiolo: 

The grape that makes the wines they call the King and Queen of Italian Wines (Barolo & Barbaresco). We'll taste 9+ wines made of Nebbiolo, from varrying sub regions, including Barolo, Barbaresco, Valtellina, Alto Piemonte... in attempt to understand this "noble grape" and what it can do.

The class includes light appetizers.

Grape Variety Series:

At the Village Wine Merchant, we have variety first approach, with the feeling that the grape variety is the most important aspect of a wine. Nature's first gift. Without the grape, there is no wine! Second, is terroir; the soil, the exposure, the unique climate that enhances the particularity of that given grape, making it something you couldn't find anywhere else in the world. Next, is human intervention; first in viticulture, and then in winemaking. Both require artistic creativity, science, and more importantly a diligent and unrelenting willingness to be present in observation, letting the grapes, and the must guide our decisions.
