Educational Tasting: Found North w/ Head Blender Sammy Karachi (730PM, Saturday November 21st, 2026)

On Saturday November 21st, for the first time, we are welcoming a Head Blender to instruct one of our whisky tasting classes. Sammy Karachi,  is the driving force behind every aspect of whisky-making at Found North. Sammy sources barrels, manages maturation, and conceptualizes new blends. Found North has made a splash in the whisky scene, and even more so, an incedible impression in my personal collection. I was impressed by Found North from the first time I tried it, and contiune to be impressed with every new release they have. This is a pretty strong statement considering I've tried some really delicious, rare, and expensive whiskies over the past 15 years. Found North is the bottle I find myself most excited to reach for, and the bottles I've been going through the quickest at home. So to say that is is exciting to host a Found North class with their talented Head Blender is an understatement.

This class will be bigger than our others, opening up 18 seats(!) and we'll be tasting whisky $125 to $290. Sammy will be sharing his process of blending, tasting, and ultimately putting out products on the market that have been accepted with rave reviews. 

For some additional back story, many of you may already know, so I will make this brief: I was lucky to get into Whisky back in 2012, when Bourbon and Rye were practically ignored. Remarkably high quality and rare bottles were more or less readily available. As the Bourbon boom happened over the ensuing decade or so, it became incredibly difficult to source the bottles I wanted, without spending $400+. I began to lose my love for it. The cost was just becoming too high to be as excited as I was prior. Then comes my purchase of Village Wine Merchant in late 2024, and with that, I am back to tasting 400+ whiskys a year. And with the help of PM Spirits, the leader of high quality spirits in NY distribution, I come across Found North. We were proud of our first-ever store pick to be a special bottling of Found North, and this just in: we just picked our second-ever store pick, also a Found North bottling you'll get to taste at the class.

The class will also include some particularly chosen nosh for pairing.
