From the producer Marco de Grazia: “I produced this wine for the first time in 2007. Don’t get me wrong: I love good rosé wines. I just never thought I’d make one. It wasn’t a priority of mine. But it was for my daughter Elena. The allure of the color pink for the fairer sex is well known, especially at the tender age of 3. Painting the winery pink just wasn’t enough. Was there a red wine? Yes. A white one? Yes. Well, then there had to be a pink one too! And the extraordinary versatility of Nerello, I soon discovered, was exactly what was needed.

Not an easy wine to make. In fact, quite the opposite: balance must be sought with the utmost delicacy. The Platonic ideal, at least as I see it—if I may put it that way—would be a rosé with the body of a white and the soul of a red.

Anyway, that’s what I aim for: a wine that is joyful without being frivolous; that has tension without being austere. And I feel we’re close.”
