I first tasted this back in early 2025 at Slow Wine in NYC. My first stop of the day was to Fontodi, where they were pouring this new Chianti Classico Gran Selezione, with the same vintage of Fontodi's original Gran Selezione Vigna del Sorbo that comes from fruit in Panzano. This was the perfect demonstration of the difference between Lamole and Panzano.
Pastrolo showed more red fruit, more finesse, but still incredible austerity and intensity. Fontodi's Filetta di Lamole now has a big brother!
100% Sangiovese from Lamole in Chianti Classico, 600m asl, and Macigno soils.
