100% Sangiovese from Tuscany's Chianti Classico, Panzano in Chianti in Italy

Fontodi is an iconic producer in Chianti Classico most famous for there Sangiovese based Super Tuscan Flaccianello.

There are lots of Chianti Classico wines out there, but there are not very many like Fontodi’s. The Manetti family has owned the Fontodi estate since the late 1960s, while Giovanni Manetti took over in 1979, and he has not been afraid to push the envelope. Back in 1981, they made their first vintage of their flagship wine Flaccianello with a label reading Vino da Tavola. That was the lowest designation a wine could have in Italy and simply means table wine, but Manetti did not agree with the current restrictions in Chianti and felt this wine was best as a monovarietal Sangiovese, so he was glad to ignore the "higher" designations such as DOC & DOCG.
