About Ronchi di Cialla

Founded in 1970 by Paolo & Dina Rapuzzi Ronchi di Cialla is one of, if not the most important winery to know in Friuli Venezia Giulia, a region in the north of Italy, just east of Veneto, and bordering Slovenia. Back then, Schioppettino was thought to be extinct, and the family had to fight to have it added back into the Italian registry. Now, we get to benefit from their efforts!

The list of grape varieties in their wines will likely sound obscure to most reading this, but I hope not for long! The reds include Schioppettino, Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso & Pignolo, while the whites include Verduzzo, Ribolla Gialla, Picolit & Friulano. These are native grapes of the area, with deep history, and that can make some age worthy wines.
