80% Aglianico, 20% Piedirosso from Campania, Italy

There is lots of fruit intensity here, with black cherry and black raspberry. There is also a great deal of earth with some mushrooms, & cloves as well. This is stunningly, balanced with lively acidity keeping it fresh, all while the oak is perfectly integrated, rounding out the edges and keeping the wine somewhat elegant despite how powerful and rustic it is. Fattoria Galardi is a small winery situated on the inactive volcano Roccamonfina in Campania. Though Roccamonfina has been inactive for somewhere near 50,000 years, today it offers us a site for the vines of fine wine! The vines sit at about 1,300 feet in altitude helping keep significant diurnal shifts.
