Chateau Durfort Vivens was one of the estates visited by Thomas Jefferson before he became president of the United States. In his original classification that was more or less mimmiced by the 1855 Classification, Jefferson considered Durfort-Vivens just below Lafite, Lataour and Margaux. Margaux is just a few hundred meters northeast.
